Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:30 to 2:45 and there were a total of four seals during her observation.
Initially there were two seals:
Almost directly down form 3BS was what Marilyn believes to be RQ44 Mahina: juvenile size, very green coat, green female belly and at least two tags. She may be going through her gradual yearling molt.
In the SRI area was a Subadult Female: subadult size, light gray female belly, two red tags and perhapssome small scars or nbs on her left rear side. The S/F seemed antsy. She hauled out at SRI, then went into the shallows between 3BS and SRI, disappeared for some time and then hauled out at the 1BS side of LPB about 2:25 pm.
At 1:05 pm, Marilyn became aware of a very light belly seal behind the waterfront rocks on LPB. Marilyn thinks this is one of the weaners because of its size and color.
At 1:15 pm an Adult Female appeared in the middle of LPB: adult size, new coat, two red tags and about 98% molted. She appears to have just a small amount of old fur on her rear dorsal area.
Team R&B did not have a lot of time on the beaches today. At one west side location they found one seal. There was the cutie R416 Makalii.
