Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Marilyn and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part 2 of the dailies.
To quote Team Billand it was "Total Nutsville" out there today, every beach was packed. They first went to the outfall and saw three seals foraging in the rough surf. There was Kaale RH32, RL12 Aukai and RN14 Kalani. The three of them would end up swimming over to tracks. There were tons of people on shore making it a real challenge for the seals to haul out. Team Billand called the hotline. RG28 Lefty was the first to arrive at tracks, then the other three came in.
Team Billand went over to the bay and it was just as crazy there. They did find three seals that landed.
RN44 and R3CX were together and RL20 Kalua was alone. They still didn't see any line coming from his mouth.Marilyn did Ka'ena Point with Lesley this morning and only spent just over an hour this afternoon checking on Rabbit Island. She saw four seals today.
At the LPB were two seals both subadult to adult size. Marilyn thinks they were both female but can not be sure so they were reported as UU. They moved around quite a bit while she was watching so not sure which was which.
Near the 3BS was a juvenile with a yellowish male belly and no tags. She is pretty sure the seal had a N3 applied bleach. He was bleached on 8/3/2020 near Irmas. At the time it was thought to be either PO1 or PO2 born on Rabbit Island.
Near SRI was a UU#3 a subadult to adult seal with a lighter belly and two tags. The seal never gave her enough to go on to determine it's sex.
