Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Team T&D, Lesley and in the yesterday news department Melody. Please see part two for yesterday's news.
Lesley and Team T&D hiked the point today. The three of them only found two seals today. RL74 Kami was in a new spot. Tammy said looking for her is like playing Where's Waldo, she always finding new and unusual spots. The three of them sat out at the point and watched the huge surf. As they were leaving, Tammy noticed something move from the corner of her eye. Lesley went down to check and ID'd RN58 Luana. She was most likely there on their way out but well hidden in the rocks. The last part of the day they saw a banded black footed albatross.
Lesley found R303 BG in the early morning before their hike. And later after their hike she did the last check of the beach in the afternoon and found R330 Squinty.
Team Billand first saw RH32 Kaale in the outfall and then he headed out to tracks about 8:45. He landed next to a seal already on shore. RG28 Lefty greeted Kaale with a nuzzle. Then out of nowhere RN14 Kalani arrived barking as he hauled up. He moved further up to be bugged by his bosom buddy. Team Billand called the hotline to update. All three boyz entered the water to move further down by the trees. There was a "off-duty" volunteer on site, Team Billand filled her in on who the seals were and there was a seal at electric beach. By the time Team Billand got there the seal was gone so it was reported as an U/U.
Just after 10 am they were thrilled to find RK72 Kekoa in his brand new coat. He is looking quite clean and handsome.
This afternoon they headed over to the bay, they spotted a seal at rest camp by the cabins. There were some orange cones and a sign up. Team Billand got permission to enter the property. When they got out they spent time studying the seal over the wall. Then they see the ding on her head and mid shoulder and they new it was Aukai RL12. They were not allowed to stay but they were happy to get the ID.
At the bay they found RN44 hauled out to the right rocks snoozing alone. Lei Ola RH48 was at her spot to the left also snoozing in peace. They spotted an adult with tags at the jetty. They couldn't get an ID so it was reported at an UU. (possibly Nalu R3CX but not enough time to be sure).
