01/21/2021 Thursday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand.

Early this morning Team Billand saw a little seal come in full speed ahead and galumph behind the rocks. Once they got a good look they ID'd N4 Kai, he remained there all day. He was still there on their afternoon check.  Team Billand almost missed R3CX, he was very well hidden on their first visit. It took some effort but they were able to ID him.  They spotted a seal foraging offshore forever, they watched and he finally hauled up. It was Kekoa RK72 who spent the rest of the day on the rocks. He is in great condition.

Team Billand headed over to tracks and found R407 Kawika on shore with people around him. On their

recheck he was still there in the same spot still with people around.  They spotted a seal foraging off shore but just could not get enough to ID the U/U. The critter did not stick around long enough to find out anything more.  They did however see the University of Hawaii boat doing research checking out the dolphins.

On their recheck of tracks they saw a seal on shore. It was RN14 Kalani alone and undisturbed.

At another westside location they found Kolohe RW22 on the rocks. His sat tag scar was visible. Good to see the boy. They saw another seal come in it looked up at Kekoa then took off, they didn't have time to get a photo let alone an ID.

Heading over to the bay they found R3CX Nalu on the rocks alone. Kaale RH32 was on the rocks alone until RN44 headed over and joined him. Both Kaale and RN44 left, only to have RN44 return. Lastly but certainly not least RL12 Aukai was foraging off the jetty.
