7/5/2018 Monk Seal Dailies: (part 1)

Today's dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's complete update is part two of the dailies.

Marilyn stopped by to check in on RK24 Weaner on her way home from work. He was on the sand and very fidgety for about 45 minutes and was flinging sand, mouthing and tossing small rocks. He was ID'd by his K25 tag. He is looking healthy and being a curious weaner.

Team Billand followed their daily routine of checking in on Ka'ale RH32 at his breakfast buffet. He didn't gorge himself like he has been but still had a healthy meal.  Today there were eight fishermen out there all being respectful of the little critter. Team Billand lost sight of him and left the area.

A few hours later they were checking one of the west side beaches and spotted a seal coming in at a slow pace. Finally it landed on the rocks and they were able to ID Kaale and relieved he was hauled out away from the outfall and resting peacefully.

Along with checking all the usual haul outs, Team Billand made the Ka'ean West trek. Their only find out there today was Lei Ola RH48. They spotted her below on the rocks on her back. She is looking good and healthy. There were a couple of folks out there and Team Billand shared their binoculars and gave them a brief monk seal 101.

Team Billand did not find any other critters today.
