7/12/18 Monk Seal Dailies: (part 1)

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Team T&D, Melody and Lesley. Lesley's complete update is part two of the dailies.  Thank you all for being out there.

Team Billand was out early this morning checking in at the outfall. Upon arrival they spotted two seal in the outfall, one kept going right and there was no ID made, but the smaller one was Ka'ale RH32.
He was having his breakfast, and once again a lot of fishermen out, many they have not seen before, seems the recent News story brought a lot of attention to the area.
Team Billand was joined by Melody.  Most of the fishermen that Team Billand have come to know were in the left corner and many of the new unfamiliar faces were on the jetty, some fishing for Kawakawa.  Melody left a little while before Team Billand headed out after being on site for about 5 hours.  Seems there were some heated conversations on site, and it was best to leave. Ka'ale remained foraging.  Late afternoon Team Billand found RH32 at a near by beach snoozing, fat and happy not a care in the world.

Team Billand found Lei Ola RH48 up on the rocks on a west side beach, enjoying the sun and surf. She was ID'd by her lip piercing and tags.  There was a woman who came by and wanted to know about the seal, she was aware the seal had a large hook.

Late afternoon Team Billand was checking out another west side beach and spotted Leia RL42 & Benny RE74. There were people around the two seals and they were aware of the people being there.
A kid was screaming at the seals while one was eating a bag of Doritos, Benny and Leia just looked up at him.
(Quite honestly they're lucky since Benny has been known to be very territorial around females). Meanwhile the adults were there drinking their beverages and smoking their butts. Needless to say this was frustrating and upsetting to see. Some people don't care.  Team Billand did spot a volunteer truck in the parking lot, but there was no one around to report the incident to.

Team T&D met up with Lesley and her guest Sasha today.  They saw the last of the albatross all testing their wings, as well as a Black Noddy. In the seal department they found RW02 PvKauai on the reefs. They also found Ka'ena RO40 on the runway. The last critter out at the point was Squinty R330 in the outer pool.  Of course they stopped by the playpen but the cousins were sleeping.
