5/18/2015 DB's Dailies: Sadie,PO2,Kainoa&RM38@RI, Kekoa&RK36@Maili Pt, Benny@Makaha, Nihoa&RK36@Maipaloa, Ola@TB, U/U@Kaimana Beach, 5-18-15,Y/N, Ola@TB, Luana&RK36@KP, Kaiwi@Moku Nui

On my first look at Rabbit Island at 0639 I found what would prove to be Kainoa (RN04) at the left rock flats. He would remain there all day.

I got back to Makai Pier at 0800 to find Kainoa still the only visible animal.

At 0910 Sadie&PO2 hauled out to the left end of the beach for a feed and a snooze. They were back in at 1053, and hauled out again at 1232. The pup’s belly is beginning to change, but still can’t get a sex.

At 0954 RM38 hauled out to the left end flats to join Kainoa. He would depart at 1150. I did not see him again today.

Team Billand reported Kekoa (RN72) at Maili Point, at 0707.

Also on that 0707 call the Billands advised that Debbie had reported Benny (RE74) at Aki’s Beach in Makaha. They reported his departure at 0847.

At 0942 they reported Nihoa (R912) at the Maipalaoa Canal. She would depart at 1537, but at 1600 they reported Nihoa & another animal back in the canal. The Billands confirmed RK36, but he departed.

At 1657 the Billands advised that RK36 was now at Maili Point, with another UU foraging off shore.
At 1657 Ocean Safety reported an U/U at Kaimana Beach. Left a voicemail with Dana. No further word.

Lesley called at 1357 with the report of Ola Loa (RG03) at the birth beach. Turtle Bay.

The Yesterday’s News department is even more interesting than today’s report. Posse member Kai East sent shots from her time with Ola Loa yesterday at Turtle Bay (with rainbow).

Posse member Ken Tingman did a late in the day trek to The End of the World, and found RK36 at Hidden Beach on his way in (and out), as well as Luana (RN58) at the main pool , Ka’ena Point.

The highlight of the day for me personally came with an email from DOFAW posse member Nick Vargas. He and the crew had been working on Moku Nui yesterday, and found Kaiwi (RK96) on Moku Nui. This is a biggy !! Kaiwi had been on Rabbit Island on 5-13-15, but we hadn’t seen her since. Kaiwi’s documented world , so far , has been Rabbit Island to as far as Diamond Head. This report marks the first time EVER that she has been reported on the east side !!!

I have to give credit to Mehealani for calling about the BENNY which is not shown at Aki's Beach. She put the signs out, we went over as she had a small problem with an irate man. Cops came, it was taken care of. THANKS MEHALANI.
And thanks Deb for the call.

Now We also had Kekoa Alii...

It was a bonus with Nihoa and another seal that showed up to fight with her. Took a bit to get the tag shot, K36.

And special thanks to my Seal Buddie, DEB..who watched over Miss Nihoa. I joined her and the last 1/2 hour was nuts with K36 and Nihoa..but so worth the long sit . Deb and I...we get things done...together yesterday. You are so appreciated Miss DEB.
