On Sunday 9/4 Auntie Lesley and I attended the 4th Annual Dakine Canine Festival in Kailua. We set up our HMSRTO booth with information about our seals, items to sell and accept donations. Why were we there? Well we received an invitation from Island Dog Magazine who puts on this event. The wonderful folks at the magazine accepted and published an article I submitted back in May. (check the link below if you missed it). In a nutshell the more folks we reach who are on the beaches and ask them for their help being our eyes on the beaches.... report all seal sightings AND to make sure their dogs are leashed when the seals are up on the beaches....
We met lots of folks and soon realized that dog lovers have big hearts and love all animals.... we were greeted with open arms, some people had their own stories to tell.... Talk about a small community.... we met volunteer Karen' Rohter's daughter.... and Candy Green's mother.... it was very nice to hear family members boast about the work being done.
And lastly I added a new member to my family.... of course I chose the odd man out at the whole event. ~da blog lady~ p.s. photo quality stink, both Lesley and I had dead batteries from our cameras.

Yes we are in a parking lot - but the event was held in the same area as Kailua Farmer's Market

Newest member of my family, and this was the ONLY cat in the entire place. She stayed cool calm and collected throughout the entire day.... so I felt at the very least she deserved to have a home. So far she and Bella are doing okay... a couple of LOUD warnings from Bella...
