At 1010 Makapuu lifeguard posse member , Donavon called to report an animal just hauling out to the left side of the beach. When I arrived at 1020 I found Irma (R010). I cordoned her off and she remained the rest of the day. I gave Donavon Irma's recent history.
On a Blowhole check at 1115 I found M&M (R020) and Duke (RA12) doing 8 minute dives.
Posse member Donavon called again at 1323 to say " DB...Irma's baby is here !!" I assured him that probably wasn't the case, but that I was on my way. When I arrived I found Nani (RK60) amongst water front rocks approximate 50 ft left of Irma's location. Though I have known her since her birth to M&M at Rabbit Island on 5-24-11, this is our first "Up Close & Personal" meeting. Our relationship to date has been at 8/10ths of a mile from Makai Pier. Nani departed of her own volition with the rising tide at 1353 . She appeared to be heading for Rabbit Island , and home.
Dera called at 0900 to advise that volunteer Jeannie Martinson had reported R5AY at the Keiki Pond at TB, and La'akea near by but right of the Keiki Pond. Dera called again at 0910 to advise that a diver had reported a Kolohe (RW22) sighting last night at 1830 in Maunalua Bay. He was ID'd by tags.
Team Billand checked in at 1440 to advise that they had found Kermit (R4DG) fronting #1705 at Nimitz Cottages, at 0830.
They also advised that they had spoken with posse member Eileen at the Reef Runway, and she reported Kekoa (RK72) on the birth beach at 1443.
