For anyone who didn't attend this evenings meeting OR missed the news here is the link to the story. I know this is a hot topic.... and I am sure you all KNOW where I stand.... but one gentlemen suggested we let nature take it's course... Really? We (humans) have been interfering with nature for so long now we have no clue what course nature would take.... and if this was the case, do we stop treating illnesses? I don't understand why people wouldn't want to give a species a chance to survive.... okay I step off my soapbox ~da blog lady~

Donna, that is one reason we dont go to those meetings, it is a very hot topic and we heard some testimonies already...didnt like what was said. Our seals are not well recieved by some folks at all. But, they are the endangered critters of Hawaii, NEXT TO EXTINCTION, They need to be taken care of.
SEALS SHOULD HAVE RIGHTS, THEY ARE PROTECTED BY STATE AND FEBERAL LAWS, the ENDANGERED SPICEI ACT...We are THEIR VOICES....And the ocean is THEIR HOME. Man needs to wake up and understand, Seals need a home to live, to eat, to rest. Its so simple..ITS HARD!!! If only we could all share the ocean in harmony...the fish are scarce now, not because of the seals, they take what they need to survive. Its man that takes all. Seals can not go to a store for their food, they must hunt for it, go deep and far out. Just on a three day weekend, drive along the coast line and see all those poles, barely three feet apart. On Oahu, we got what, 40 seals??? How many fishermen are there here??? Thousands, and all are trying to get dinner, same as the seals. And, I dont believe the monk seals eat ULUA, they eat smaller fish, lobsters, crabs, eels tako. Oh I wish one day soon, man can understand the importance of saving our seals, give them a place IN THEIR WATERS AND SHORES TO REST, EAT and just co exist..PERIOD!
