September 9, 2024 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:35 to 2:15 pm and there were two seals seen during that time.
On the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB were two seals:
R416 Makali'i: sub-adult to adult size, male belly with distinctive scars and dark spots on ventral. R416 appears to be about 40% molted with new fur on his chest and upper belly. His recent behavior had suggested he was probably pre-molt.
About 15-20 feet from R416 was weaner RT19: normal weaner size and shape, two red tags and light male belly.

Team R&B first find today was the lovely Miss Kala RH76. She was at the "zen" garden laying on her side. Looks like her molt is moving along a little faster. They estimate she is about 65% done.  She was alone and stayed at her zen garden all day.

Once again today they spotted seals foraging and fighting in the water. They did their best to get IDs, one they knew was RL20 Kalua. He had his mouth wide open and barking at the seal with the two cc scars.
They think this seal is RL08, he is a big green seal with cc scars. He kept fighting with RL08 and neither one ever hauled out.
While watching the two seals foraging the dolphins were out and about. They watched them leaping and at times with the seals close by.

Heading over to Makaha they found Miss Leia RL42. She was alone close to the rocks resting.  There were folks out with their kids, but thankfully everyone was respectable. Team R&B noted that RL42 is still looking a little thin.

Next stop they found R617 Mr. Kimo alone on the rocks. The waves were hitting him while he was resting. They ID'd him by the scar on his head and no tags.

Team R&B headed back to pokai for a recheck. When they arrived they saw two seals at a distance at the rest camp site. All of a sudden one of the seals a female with a clean coat, flew past them. They thought she would haul out but she kept going.
Then RH32 Kaale hauled up on the rocks, looked around, and then took off in the same direction as the female. They did not see him again.
