Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:30 to 2:15 pm and there were three seals seen during that time. But there were no seals until 1:51 pm, just as Marilyn was doing a final check she saw the three on the rocks flats on the Lanikai side of the back of LPB.
Juvenile Female: larger juvenile size, new coat, two red tags and light female belly.
R416 Makali'i: sub-adult to adult size, older coat with lots of green, no tags, tan male belly.
There was a snorkeler on RI when Marilyn first started viewing and he managed to traverse most of the island before leaving via RRI. He was gone before any of the seals showed up.
Team R&B had a very busy day, with multiple seals seen at pokai. They did see Kala RH76 in a pond rolling around and lots of scratching. Kala did leave the site, while they were busy trying to ID other seals that were foraging.
There were at least three maybe four seals foraging in a school of fish. Team R&B tried their best to get IDs, but it was hard to keep track of who was who. Two of the seals had green on their coats, one had tags.
They saw one of them was an adult with a clean coat and was able to determine it was a female, they did not see tags. The unknown female just kept foraging with the two green seals.
Then they saw a seal coming in, it had a N7 applied bleach on his left side, that's Kaale RH32. He hauled out where Kala had been earlier. He galumphed all over the rocks, looked around and then took off. They never saw him again.
Team R&B headed over to the cliffs. They studied the rocks for an hour looking and spotting a seal. They couldn't determine who the seal sleeping int he rocks was. So they climbed down and discovered it was Kai RM31. He is 100% molted.
They headed back to pokai to check and they saw a seal coming in. It was Kala RH76 coming back in. She hauled higher up on rocks and her molt is in full swing. She is going to look gorgeous real soon.
Then much to their surprise they found another seal in the pond that Kala had been snoozing in. It was an adult male, with a scar on his head. They believe this is RG32.
The highlight of their day was when they decided to go visit and tour the Hokuleia. They were so excited to go onboard. The men were so kind helping Robert and Barb onboard and they got a talk on the Hokuleia.
