March 7 2023 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

I'll just say it was a busy day at Rabbit Island today. Marilyn viewed the island from 11:50 to 2:15 and there were seven seals today, conveniently numbered 1 - 7.
Out on the rock flats of LPB were two seals close to each other.
Seal 1 - Adult Female: adult size, light female belly, unsure about tags. There appeared to be several pit scars close together on the right dorsal side. Seal 1 nuzzled Seal 2 several times.
Seal 2 - Unknown Adult: adult size, older coat, unsure about gender or tags. If Marilyn were to guess she would say female but can't be sure.
On Lanikai side of LPB:
Seal 3 - Unknown Subadult: subadult to adult size, light ventral side and unsure about gender or tags.
Down from the 3BS:
Seal 4 - Unknown Subadult: subadult size, light male belly, two red tags.
Seal 5 - was initially up in the dunes by 3BS, but later moved down to the waterfront. Unknown Female: adult size, light female belly, no tags that could be seen. Seal 5 moved near Seal 6.
Seal 6 - showed up about 12:15 and must have been hidden up in the dunes. Subadult Female: subadult size, light greenish gray female belly and two red tags. She had a fair amount of green.
On waterfront rock flats near SRI:
Seal 7 - same spot as yesterday Unknown Female: large adult size, light greenish gray female belly and two red tags.

Team R&B started out at the outfall area and they spotted a seal foraging. None of their photos gave them anything to work with, not to mention windy and choppy waters.
Then they noticed a seal had hauled up on the rocks. It was RH32 Kaale, he hauled up and barely moved at all.
While checking out Kaale they saw a big pod of dolphins.

At another west side location they saw a slightly green seal with cc scars. It was RL08 in the same spot as yesterday on high rocks.
Then they saw R3CX Nalu just across from him. He was sound asleep in the chilly windy air.

On their last stop it was extremely windy and there was only one seal seen on the rocks. To their delight it was RL70 Leina. She was very alert, but she hung around and very nicely showed her L71 tag. Thank you Miss Leina.
