March 11 2023 Saturday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:53 to 3:33 and there were three seals on island. Near each other behind the waterfront rocks down from the 3BS were:
Unknown Adult 1: subadult to adult size, lighter ventral side but mostly hidden behind rocks, unknown tags or gender.
Juvenile Female: larger juvenile size, older coat, green female belly and unknown about tags.
On the waterfront rock flats next to SRI was Unknown Adult 2: adult size, light ventral side and at least one red tag. Marilyn wasn't sure but thinks it was a female.
As an extra treat Marilyn noticed some humpback whales on the Lanikai side of Rabbit Island and she managed to get a tail shot.

Team R&B saw a seal haul up at tracks area very early on. Unfortunately they couldn't get there at that time. Later in the day they went out to check and on shore was R413 Makamae. There were folks around her taking close up photos. They called the hotline and texted the photos.

Next they headed over to paradise cove with junior sealette. There were lots of people out and thankfully a volunteer on site. The first two seals on shore were RL12 Aukai and RL08.  Shortly affter two more seals arrived. RG28 Lefty was arguing with R407 Kawika. Kawika is a big boy and was fighting for Aukai. There was lots of action going on, making it fun and exciting with all the rolling, flipper slapping and vocals.
As they were taking photos a man said there was another seal, so they walked over the rocks to see. They made the exhausting walk alone with junior sealette to the seal. It was RH32 Kaale resting.  Since the tourist knew where he was Team R&B let volunteer at paradise cove know about him.

They headed over to secrets and there on shore were two seals. They ID'd RK72 Kekoa Alii and RN14
Kalani. Even with signs posted there was that one guy inside the area taking photos. They let him know he should stay behind the signs.

On their last stop they initially didn't see anything but folks jumping on the rocks. As they turned a fat seal caught their eye. The seal was alone in the rocks just snoozing. They ID'd the lovely and very fat RH76 Kala.
