March 20 2023 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕
In yesterdays news I got an email from Melody sharing some good news.

Melody had gotten a text from a friend that Rocky RH58 had spent the night at one of her favorite beaches. (yea Rocky!!!) Melody headed over and ID'd her by female gender, pit scar on right shoulder, crescent scar above right nipple and her NB and missing digit on her LFF.
Rocky spent a lot of time going to the waters edge, making a huge snort, looking both ways and decided
it was time to swim out.  Off she went having no problems with the small waves. She went through a school of fish, maybe had a snack and then passed the jetty moving in an easterly direction.
Only Rocky knows what she been up to, and hopefully we'll hear about more sightings. She had her Aunties a little worried after being mia for a couple of weeks. She has plumped up some since her photo on February 25th.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:30 to 2:00 and there were a total of three seals on island.
When she first arrived and looked she only saw two seals near the 3BS. By the time she was all set up and looked again a third seal had just hauled out on the waterfront rocks near the other two.
Adult Female: large adult size, medium gray female fat belly, no applied bleach on the left side so it is not Sadie who has a N12 applied bleach. The rear flippers were hidden by the waterfront rocks during the entire time. It could be RF34 Pua but not sure (time will tell).
Juvenile Female: juvenile size, tan female belly and no visible tags.
Subadult Female: subadult size, light tannish yellow female belly and two red tags.

Team R&B started their day watching two seals foraging in the outfall for a long time and then some.
There was RH32 Kaale and RL20 Kalua the dynamic duo.  These two are notorious fish thieves.

Next they headed over to secrets to check it out. When they arrived there were two seals on shore together. They got some signs and set up around RG28 Lefty and RL08. There were lots of folks out as usual so Team R&B called the hotline. They did their best to educate folks and thankfully people were being respectful today.
While they were waiting, another two seals were spotted They were coming in playing and holding onto each other, it was Kekoa Alii RK72 and Aukai RL12. They played for a good 15 - 20 minutes, so Team R&B called the hotline again.
Aukai hauled out first and was closely followed by Kekoa Alii, right on her butt.
As they came up on the rocks, RG28 charged up and he and Kekoa got into a spat. RG28 won, as Kekoa lost his spot with Aukai and RG28 layed next to her. Kekoa moved higher up.
RL08 got curious but stayed on shore away from the commotion.
If the four seals weren't enough a fifth seal was seen coming in at warped speed. Kekoa barked, Lefty barked and RN14 Kalani arrived and understood to back off, so he went off to the left side of Lefty and Aukai.
A volunteer arrived so they filled her in on that happened and who they ID'd. The volunteer removed
the signs they put up and put their signs with rope. Team R&B left at 12:30.

At another west side location they found a couple of folks in the pond and seal up on the rocks. The couple was respectful of the seals.
On lower rocks was a huge female seal, snoozing, no tags and hardly moved. The seal had a clean coat and a natural bleach spot on the right side of her belly. They thought it might be BG but just aren't sure so they reported her as an Unknown Female.
To the right of seal inlet was RH76 Kala and RP30 Puka.  Suddenly Kala galumphed away from RP30, and then took off due to rising tide. RP30 was stunned and gingerly went to look for her and went into the water.  He later came back to his spot on high rocks and stayed there.
