March 22, 2023 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Melody, Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Melody decided to go and check in on weaner U'l Mea Ola and Lei Ola and PO2. She first found Lei Ola RH48 and PO2 early this morning. They were on the sand and were pretty entertaining with their antics, especially PO2. For some reason there was a lot of vocals today maybe just answering back mom.
A little later Lei Ola decided to take PO2 closer to the water as the tide came in. They finally made it
into the water and they did some swimming and training for quite a while. PO2 had set its eyes on a crab under a rock, learning to hunt. Mom bellowed and he moved away. They got out of the water came up on sure and had a nursing session and then snoozed.
Seems weaner formerly PO1 received her bling at some point. She is tagged S32 and named U'l Mea Ola.
She was laying on her back in the water when Melody first spotted her. When she came in from hiding an Unknown seal came in. Melody couldn't get a positive ID and hoping some of the posse will be able to determine who it might be. The unknown and S32 became acquainted and soon they were both swimming off together down the coastline.
Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:50 to 2:05 and there was only one seal seen during her observations.  It was an Adult Female, who Marilyn believes to be RF34 Pua. She started out in a tide pool behind the waterfront rocks down from the 3BS, then went into the water.  At 12:48 she hauled out again between 3BS and middle cliff. The A/F is a large adult size, has a medium gray female belly, possibly pregnant and a pit scar on the right rear side, unsure about tags.

Team R&B arrived at KoOlina just before 8 am, to find multiple seals playing, fighting and foraging in
the lagoon. It was hard to make all the IDs but they got some. Thankfully a volunteer soon arrived.
Security was great at keeping folks out of the water and off the shorelines.
The seals went from corner to mid lagoon playing with the buoys for a long time. Team R&B were worried since the buoys were attached with ropes, but thankfully there were no incidents.  The IDs were: RL08, RK72 Kekoa Alii, RG32, RH32 Kaale and the seal with a white nail is possibly RN14 Kalani.

After a while they figured the seals would head over to secrets, so they hurried over and found all the tourist on the rocks trying to film the seal trying to land. Team R&B grabbed the signs and put them out and called out to the folks to move behind the signs, so the seal could land. All were good except for that one, there is always one that causes your blood pressure to go up.
Finally RG32 hauled up on the rocks and immediately went to sleep.  They called the hotline and a volunteer came. They stayed a little longer just in case any of the others decided to come, but they didn't so they left at 11:15.

Next they decided to go back to where they saw R407 Kawika yesterday, but her wasn't there. They did
some walking thinking about all the great seals that use to come to this area ( Kermit, Rocky, RO18, RB24, Benny, Ewa Girl, Irma and more..... so many we have lost). Then they spotted something and to their surprise there was Kawika R407. He was so relaxed in a small hole, snoozing and snoring.

They then headed over to Kahe and found one large male on the rocks. He was on his side and they could see cc scars, which led them to believe it was RN14 Kalani.

Lastly at another west side location they found RP30 Puka at seal inlet. At waterfront rocks there was RH76 Kala getting wet and slammed by the high tide.
