Jan 8, 2023 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 2:30 to 4:25 and there were a total of three seals.
Initially when she arrived there were only two seals. On LPB was an Adult Male: subadult to adult size, lighter gray male belly and two red tags. This is probably RK24, but she never had the right perspective to make the call.
About 20 feet Lanika side of the 3BS was an Adult Female: subadult to adult size, tannish gray female belly and two red tags.
About 3 pm, a Juvenile Male hauled out and stopped almost directly down from the 3BS. The
JM was juvenile to small subadult size, light gray male belly and two red tags. This could be the same JM as yesterday.

Team R&B first sightings were dolphins. They were back out and putting on quite a show.  There were sharks around so maybe the dolphins were reacting.
After watching the dolphins they took a walk out to secrets and were so surprised to find four monk seals on shore and...... a big Wedding Celebration.
RG28 Lefty was on shore near the rocks. RK72 Kekoa Alii was on shore and he's 100% molted.  RN14 Kalani was up by the rocks.
The last seal looked smaller than the others, and it took them a bit to make an ID. Then they saw his NB on left side and showed his tag. It was Nalu R3CX, who doesn't come around there very often. There they were all the boys.
There were signs up already, probably from folks staying at Aunties. Team R&B called the hotline and a volunteer arrived around noon. She removed the signs and replaced them with ones she brought.

At another west side location they hit another seal jackpot. There were four seals snoozing in seperate locations.
RM31 Kai was on lower rocks near RW02 PvKauai who was in the playboy pond. Eventually Kai would enter the playboy pond with RW02.
Over to the seal inlet was little brother RP30 Puka. And over to the right, half in the water and half on land was RH76 Kala.

They made the Kaena West trek but there were no seals to be seen. Wherever they looked there were lots of people, on the rocks, in the ponds. Its probably best the seals weren't there. But all was not lost, they were able to watch the whales. They were out putting on a show.
Clearly the whales, dolphins and seals have a special place in their hearts.💕
