Jan 26, 2023 Thursday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:45 to 1:35 and there were three seals on island today.
On LPB was an Adult Female #1: adult size, yellowish gray female belly and possibly two tags. She moved from the dunes into the surge inlet on the shoreward Lanikai side of LPB. Marilyn thinks this is the UA#1 from yesterday.
Together about 35 feet Makapuu side of 3BS were:
Adult Female #2: adult size, yellowish tan female belly and possibly two tags.
Subadult Female: Subadult size, light gray female belly and two tags. She appears to have a line scar running diagonally under her lower jaw.

Team R&B arrived at secrets and didn't see any seals in the area at all. They got the two signs
they have left and put them on the side and waited.  Tourist were walking all over and while watching Team R&B suddenly noticed a seal hurrying in to the rocks entrance side. The seal went all the way up the rocks where people love to hangout.
The seal was a male the same U/M from yesterday. They were able to get a better look at him and saw what they needed to make an ID. IT was RG32 male from Kauai.
He hid behind the rocks, it was hard to keep folks away, so they called the hotline.
A big wave came and hit RG32 and he decided to got to his spot on the sand. The spot where he was yesterday.
A volunteer arrived, she pick up their signs and put other signs. Team R&B stored their signs away.  The volunteer got a call of another seal. She started collecting her signs, when Team R&B asked if she could leave a couple to keep folks back. Thankfully she did.
They held down the fort for a bit, while the volunteer was gone.
There were lots of tourist out and about and they tried their best to keep up and educate them all. At noon  the volunteer still didn't return. Then Team R&B spotted another seal swimming into the rocks were RG32 was.
There was Aukai RL12 looking around checking out the area. She galumphed out part of the way and checking out RG32. Seems she didn't mind him as she continued up higher just behind a rock.
They informed the tourist who she was and how when she was 9 months old, and how
someone speared her in the head. They pointed out the two scars on her head and between her shoulders.
After most folks left, Team R&B headed out hating to leave the seals unattended with so many folks.

Next they headed over to Lagoon 2 and there on shore was a big seal, female, resting in a zone with signs. The volunteer from earlier was on site here. Team R&B ID'd R413 Makamae from Niihau.
The volunteer informed them of another seal hidden in the rocks. So they made their way around to the other end of the cove and waited for movement. The Big Seal was so well hidden, they finally got a shot of the tags from afar. They shared it with the volunteer.
When Team R&B went home they carefully checked the photos and determined the seal was RK62/K63.

Team R&b headed to another spot and initially there weren't any seals. They checked other beach that was close by and spotted a seal on shore.
Then they saw a woman in an orange bikini approach the seal. The seal was Nalu R3CX. She laid down right next to him.  So Team R&B hurried over to the site. The woman and her boyfriend moved to the right and sat on shore while they were checking out their photos.
Team R&B called the hotline and sent photos.  It really is sad people continue to do dumb stuff and it never get easy being out there and having to deal with them.
