I'm going to start off by wishing our very dear Barbara a very Happy Birthday. I hope she realizes how much she is appreciated and loved. I hope she is having a great birthday and is feeling the love!
Team R&B started their day at pokai and at first there were no seals. Then about 40 minutes later they spotted R3CX Nalu foraging from the open ocean to the jetty and back out again.
They spotted a second seal who was ID's as RL20 Kalua. He was also busy foraging. They watched for two hours how he was on the hunt for his food. He never landed while they were there.
When they got home and checked their photos, they realized that there was third seal who turned out to be RM31 Kai. He still has a fishing line coming from the left side of his mouth.
Over at Kahe they were enjoying the music from a sweet man playing his sax. They noticed a seal on the rocks. There was RG28 Lefty alone and sleeping.
They decided to check out nimitz hoping to see the little cutie, but she wasn't there today. There was an adult seal resting on the reef. The seal never moved to give them any clues. It was an adult with no tags. They were able to figure out who it wasn't; not RN14, not R407. They were thinking maybe R617 since there was a scar on his flipper. They reported it as an unknown adult, and we'll just have to see if anyone recognizes him.
