Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:30 to 1:30 and there was only one seal during her observation.
On the rock flats between SRI and RRB was a juvenile male J/M: juvenile size, older coat, light tan male belly and two red tags. This is not the same seal she saw yesterday, which make one wonder where are the rest of the seals?
Team R&B started their day spotting a big fat seal from afar. Theyheaded to the area and found KG54/KG89 Huakai. Their comment and I quote "All we can say, she is fat!!" very healthy and robust.
There were some folks from Minnesota who got talking with Team R&B. Of course they told them about KG54 and they were over the moon excited to see the seal. They came back to Team R&B to thank them for sharing her story and about monk seals.
Team R&B got to see a honu and some dolphins at play.
When they went to another west side location and looked around they were thrilled to see two sleeping seals. There was RH76 Kala laying on her side. The other seal was RL20 Kalua. His molt is about 75% done.
Team R&B headed over to the bay. Walking to the site, one of their friends told them she had seen a seal foraging just about 15 minutes before. They studied the water, walked around and saw nothing. Sitting on a rock to look is when they spotted a seal foraging doing 7 minute dives. They thought it might be Lei Ola but reported it as an Unknown Adult, since they couldn't be sure. The U/A had two red tags, light green muzzle and a clean coat.
Last stop before heading home they checked the area and around the corner and sure enough there was a seal snoozing on shore. It was Nalu R3CX, sharing the beach with a few people.
