Team T&D hiked out to Ka'ena Point and met up with Lesley. Their first find was RG28 Lefty, seems he left the west side to go north. Next was PvKauai RW02, he was in the main pool. He was resting and minding his own business, that's when RO40 Ka'ena entered. The two had words and ended up settling down on opposite sides.
They saw a flock of 19 Kolea (what a treat). Team T&D commented if this group was just arriving they are most likely juveniles.
Lastly they got to 10 minute beach and found Lady (turtle) was just hauling out.
Team R&B had a slow seal day. They arrived at one location waiting for seals to arrive, but none came. However, they were not disappointed because the dolphins put on a show.
They were having a hard time finding any seals today, until they got to one west side location. There was a really green seal, it was RL20 Kalua. They hadn't seen this fella for about a month, and were beginning to worry. He is looking great, chubby and no new markers and his tags were visible. They did notice a fishing line by the right corner of his mouth. Some of it was wrapped in his whiskers and they did not see a hook. The line is light and he wasn't bothered by it, no head thrashing at all.
They arrived at Makaha and saw a tourist walk right up to a seal. The seal was R3CX Nalu, and the tourist was aware that Team R&B were taking his picture, so he moved and went to another area.
They went and explained to him about the seal, and he replied by I am German I don't understand English. So Team R&B did their best to communicate to not go near the seal and not to to touch it. The tourist took one last photo and left the area. Nalu was doing fine, resting and just about over his molt.
They made the hike out to Ka'ena West and once again didn't find any seals.
On their way out Kai was still there but now moving up shore for the night.
