03/12/2020 Thursday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Lesley, Team T&D and Team Billand. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

Despite the weather Team T&D went out to the point today. They only found two seals on the rocks by the main pool. They ID'D R330 Squinty and Kami RL74. Team T&D cut their day short cause of the storming rain.

Team Billand arrived at the outfall before 7 am this morning. They saw a seal foraging Ka'ale RH32 going from jetty to the rocks to mid outfall. He would disappear going out to sea. They checked surrounding areas but never saw Kaale again.

Team Billand had several appointments and there was a lot of traffic today, They headed out to Plains and arrived just before 11. There was Buster RV08 with a zone around him. He was in snooze mode relaxing. They called the hotline to inform. There were a lot of folks on the beach today most being military. Team Billand hung with them and Buster for a bit.

Team Billand found RN14 Kalani snoozing on the rocks alone. He was at a beach close to the outfall and looking very dry, indicating he has been there for a while. Kalani is looking huge so he's been eating good.

Just before 3 Team Billand got to a west side location and found RW02 PvKauai tucked in the playboy pond laying on his side.  They could see his tags through the water. RW02 never left the pond.

RL20 Kalua was on left high rocks, getting wet from the incoming waves. He was alone, seems like Uncle Kekoa is on the move.

R3CX Nalu was to the right seal inlet, snoozing in the shallow pond. He is looking healthy and handsome.  Team Billand was happy to have him back from where ever he had been.

Then they spotted a critter that took some time to get an ID. They saw the tag and it was RG40 Holokai.
He's not around these parts too often and he doesn't have many markers for an easy ID. Holokai was on lower rocks by himself.

At a different west side location Team Billand spotted a seal on the rocks. The area has a lot of campers so it makes getting around a little difficult. The seal was on the rocks getting splashed from the surf. It began to move about they spotted a natural bleach on his neck and then a ding on RFF, a line scar on his head. They determined this was Kawika R407.
