03/06/2020 Friday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, posse pals Vicki, Gayle, Melody and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

I received two emails from posse pal Vicki today. First email was an update of yesterdays find on the north shore, where she came across bathing beauty with an applied bleach V35. This is R353 who was bleached on Kauai but not much else is known about her. As you can see in her photos she is a big girl.

The second email brought news of her findings today on the east side. I also received an email from Gayle that she and Vicki were watching over BG R303 today. She is another female looking quite full figured.  BG originally stood for "Benny's Girl" but now it could just be Big Girl!

Team Billand arrived at a west side beach and found RG28 Lefty and RW02 PvKauai having words with each other.  RG28 Lefty was trying to come in and was met by RW02 and that is how the argument began.  RG28 did not stick around and RW02 remained in the shallows for the rest of the day.  Lefty did land to the right and remained there all day.

At 8:50 am RL20 Kalua hauled up on high rocks and another seal approached on the rocks. It was Kekoa and they both moved around getting settled in their spots. They eventually snuggled up against each other and went to sleep.

At 11:30 Team Billand arrived at another west side location and found Kalani RN14 had just hauled in and he was alone. He is a big dude and looking to be good and healthy.

Returning to check on group Team Billand found RH36 Kawena was to the right of Lefty resting comfortably. She was on her side but her tags were showing.

Next stop on the west side Team Billand found RL42 Liea. She was in a hard to get location and alone resting peacefully.

They made a stop at Makaha and found  Nalu R3CX on shore. Initially they thought maybe it was Benny but they got the tag shot and ID'd R3CX.

At 3:30 they passed guard rails and spotted a seal. They went around and went back. There was Benny RE74 on the rocks. Team Billand was very happy to find their boy!

News from Melody that Rocky had spent the night at their beach. She went down at 7 am and Rocky was still snoozing.  It wasn't until 9 am when she moved down to the waters edge, where she spent most of the morning. Melody stayed with her until 1 and then took a break.
Melody called the hotline who sent a volunteer.   When Melody returned a little bit later the volunteer had already left. Melody stayed for a while longer and then had to leave again. She got word that Rocky departed about 5 pm
