Needless to say this Christmas was one to remember with the rain, winds and power outages. I hope that you are all safe and nothing terrible happened. I lost power for several hours and some extra water on the property but all and all everything is fine.
I was hoping things would calm down and I could make a quick ride over to the pier. Well things didn't calm down and the pier had some set backs today. The building in front which is Hawaii Undersea Research Lab (HURL) suffered damaged by having the roof blown off. To the best of my understanding no one was hurt, the debris landed in the water. I am sure they will be out there cleaning up right away. I found a picture that was posted on face book and I know it was on the news.
Team Billand on the other hand despite heavy rains and strong dangerous winds so they went looking out for seals. Crazy seal people LOL.... They came across RN14 at a west side location. He was all alone in the rain.
At 10 am Team Billand headed over to plains fighting the weather all the way. When they got there an area had been roped off and there was Pohaku snuggled up by the grass. She was alone and good news there weren't any crowds out there to bother her. Barbara had to hide behind a tree to shield herself and the camera from the sandblasting.
One more stop over to KoOlina and there they found a make-shift zone set up with chairs, some signs and ropes. There was RH92 Nalani resting. Unlike white plains there were folks out and about at KoOlina, so Team Billand did their best to educate people in the pouring rain. They called the hotline after a group of kids came by making loud "sea lion" noises trying to get Nalani's attention.
All and all RH92 is in good condition, no new markers.
Rn14 Kalani
Pohaku RO28
