Team Billand made it out to white plains for sunrise, and although it was worth the trip there were no seals to be found.
One of the stops after leaving plains they spotted a seal off shore doing 7 minute dives. Seal had a clean coat, adult size. The water was very choppy which made getting any good look for an ID difficult. The seal moved on after an hour of foraging.
Team Billand arrived at the outfall at 8:45 am there were two animals were foraging and stealing fish from the fishers in the outfall. It was none other than the bosom buddies RN14 Kalani and Ka'ale RH32. They were going back and forth in the outfall, playing, fighting, splashing and stealing fish.
At 10:30 Team Billand headed over to a near by beach and now there were three animals hauled out on the rocks, in the water all playing and rolling in the shallows. The bosom buddies Kalani and Kaale were there battling it out. Kolohe RW22 was to the right waiting for them to chill out.
Kolohe now joined in all the fun with Kaale and Kalani. Guess if you can't beat them, join them
Team Billand left the three critters at 11 am.
Team Billand headed over to another westside location. When they arrived Team Billand spotted two seals inland, sleeping on separate sides.
A third seal RW02 was left of him sleeping against the rocks.
Team Billand saw a seal coming in fast and the surf just scooted her in. She fought currents and landed on high rocks, but the waves took her out. Kawena came back, fighting the waves to stay.
In the end she went inland but to the right of both RIP and RW22, There was no interaction between all of the, just sleep.
And then there was one more. He came through the opening with the help of lady ocean. He looked around, but the waces took him right back out was not seal for the rest of the day.
Team Billand did the Ka'ena West trek and spotted a seal sleeping in between the rocks. She was completely fry and cooperated by flexing he flippers and made her N58 was visible. It's Luana, Team Billand was thrilled to see her. She is looking healthy.
Melody received a text in the afternoon that Rocky was down by their beach. Rocky hauled out at the opposite end of the beach than she normally does. Rocky usually seen at a well manicured beach, but not today. Seems Rocky was exhausted because for 3 hours she barely moved.
Melody called security and they brought out signs and Melody helped set up a SRA. The hotline was called and a volunteer did arrive for a brief stay. Melody was able to do some outreach after the volunteer left.
