While waiting for Team T&D, I checked the beaches in front.
We headed out towards the point with a list of things to do. We got them all done and more.
Our first surprise was to come up on the Snow Geese and see 3. The third one that showed up today is actually banded. Going to try to get info on him and I'll share when I get some.
Dave was the spotter today, he first pointed out Spinner Dolphins.
Then in the NARS we stopped to look at the Albatrosses and up on the hill we saw a dark one. Excitement all around, although my first reaction in the wind. as "it's a decoy", but while taking a photo a feather moved and I heard Tammy and Dave say "the head just moved". Pleased to say we were looking at a Black Footed Albatross. I called Lindsay, as they were hiking into the point to let her know. We documented him from all sides while sitting far away, Tammy gave the good news "It's banded".
Turns out it's one of the BFA banded last year. Later in the day Lindsay send me a msg saying the BFA had been sighted a week ago.
She and her team brought the foster eggs and we were invited to participate in the swap.
During the waiting process we did some whale watching - blows and 1 big breaches. What a treat.
We went down to the point and found little RL74 Kami on Back Beach. She has been there for several days now
We then hiked the Waianae side to check for sea debris and nets. Dave had spotted a net on our last hike out and today we were able to retrieve it. We went all the way to the paved round about and turned back. At 20Mnts mark Tammy spotted a seal all the way down between some rocks. I went to do the ID, our girl RN58 Luana who seldom shows up on the West side was sleeping peacefully.
We headed back and got to see the Snow Geese again. More tomorrow
