December 16, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand.

Team Billand headed out at 7:45 standing at a west side location looking and did not see any critters. The tide was kind of high and that's when they heard a sneeze, there was a seal hauling up on the rocks alone. They ID'd  Kolohe RW22 with his natural cue ball bleach showing so bright.  They also noted a patch on his back from a transmitter.  This created a conversation earlier in the day about how long ago he actually was set up with a transmitter. Seems it was 11 years ago, which is amazing that there is still discoloration to that area on his back.

After taking care of some personal business and some appointments Team Billand found a couple of critters at a west side location. They first spotted RIP RR70 in a water hole and later Ka'ale RH32 hauled in next to RIP on lower rocks.  The boys were good and tolerated one another.

Team Billand made another stop but lighting conditions weren't great in that it was later in the day for them. They found two critters, the larger animal they believe to be R3CU on the rocks with RL98 "Lina" who was getting hit by the waves.  She tried getting on her belly and finally made it. She galumphed her way to R3CU and hung out, she's a little cutey.
Team Billand checked on their way back from their Ka'ena West trek but both critters were gone.

Team Billand did the Ka'ena West trek even though it was late afternoon and the light was fading dast. They got out and found who they think may be RL42. They spotted a shark bite scar on her head from the past year, but that is all they had to go on. It was reported as a U/U.
