First find of the day was seeing Nanakuli Beach Park closed for a film crew. Chances are it's for 5-0 or Magnum... but wouldn't it be cool if there was Monk Seal "the movie" !!!
On their search of the west side the first actual critters they found were RIP RR70 and Kala RH76.
RIP was hanging out in Benny's playboy pond and Kala was to the right up on the rocks snoozing.
Later on they spotted Ka'ale RH32 coming in on lower rocks looking around checking if there was parking for him. He is such a character!
On their way to doing the Ka'ena West trek they found RL98 Lina hidden. As long as she didn't move you wouldn't know she was there. She was still tucked away in the rocks on their way out from their Trek.
It was about 2 pm when they were doing their Ka'ena West trek they spotted RL20 Kalua rolling in the water with the high surf coming in. He was having a great time playing. Team Billand was enjoying watching him they didn't realize Ka'ena RO40 was next to him on the rocks.
On the way back both seals were in the water little Kalua following big bull Ka'ena to the n
ext pond. They got into it, just a bit, then Kalua went back to the rocks, Ka'ena just watching.
Team Billand was keeping a quick pace on their trek when they passed a small opening in the rocks, thinking they spotted flippers. They walked back but couldn't see anything at first, then walked a little further and there it was a critter sleeping on the rocks. Here was RW02 PvKauai.
On the way back they couldn't find him as it appears he moved further into the rocks and all they could see is his rear flipper and they got the tag shot.
Trailers for the movie stars :-)
