Yesterday's UU reported by Vicki is most likely Right Spot R016. Based on feed back from the monk seal posse, based on vertical scar on the left side of her face and a scar on her chest, makes for good chance it's her.
Today we have another UU foraging off shore at Laniakea. Posse pal Anissa was finishing her shift with the turtles when she noticed the critter. Unfortunately choppy waters and lighting conditions made it impossible to even guess who this could be. (Thank you Anissa for sharing, even if we don't know who it is).
Team Billand was at the outfall before 7 am this morning. They spotted an adult seal foraging doing 4 - 5 minute dives. They lucky and snagged a tag shor which read N14. at 7:45 RN14 headed in a westerly direction.
Between 10 and 11:45 am Team Billand hung out at a west side location. They observed a critter but was unable to determine who it was during that time.
Team Billand saw volunteer Christina and a guest when they went to recheck on the critter they could not ID earlier. FINALLY they see it's a male with his beautiful natural cue ball bleach mark.
On their way to make the Ka'ena West trek, they made a stop and found RL42 Leia snoozing alone. She is looking healthy and they didn't see any new markers.
She was still there resting when Team Billand finished their Ka'ena West Trek
During their Ka'ena west trek they spotted a little tan seal sleeping below. When they came back they were lucky enough that he was moving and that is how they saw it was RL20 Kalua. He was moving higher up due to the surf.
Just passed where Kalua RL20 was snoozing they spotted Ka'ena RO40 with her tags showing.
Team Billand also took note of this little cardinal that is always in the area on their daily treks.
UU passing by at Laniakea ... or is that Nessy from loch ness?
