Conditions were rainy and horrible in the morning for Rabbit Island observations and then in the afternoon the sun came out but the SW winds kicked in which is minor/minor except if you are at Makai Pier where it was crankin’ 35-40 mph (It’s the Makapuu Notch Affect). As a result, all I can say is that I had an U/M out on the left end flats which I was never able to ID. Probably Kekoa but ?????????
At 1139 Team Billand reported RL42 at Makua Cliffs.
At 1149 Dr. Tom sent shots of Ua Malie (RT10)&PO5 at Turtle Bay.
Melanie Chun checked in at 1348 with the report of an U/U at China Walls, hiding in the Naupaka. At 1359 she advised that she had seen an “8" on one of the tags. When her photos arrived it was a confirmed Buster (RV08). I’d last seen the boy at Toilet Bowl, Hanauma Bay, on 7-26-16. He has picked up substantial algae since then as well as a new wound on his left muzzle. My guess would be that it’s no biggy, but I’ve forwarded the shots to Jessie (NOAA) for evaluation.
A Diamond Head posse member advised that there was a animal at the Doris Duke Estate, Black Point. I’ve heard no further word.
