The day began at 0545 at AD but it would be 0605 before I found Kea (RN46) at is birth site tide pool. He would spend time playing with a frisbee, before heading out to the surf line at 0800. He was heading west, but I lost him off shore of the 100 yd rock flats. At 0815. Posse member Robert told me that Kea had passed him at his fishing spot on the west side of the AD wall at 0823, and he saw him at mid Irma’s (near the traffic light), doing a partial haul out, but moving on . I checked Irma’s and Sandy Beach and then returned to AD, finding nothing. At 1028 posse member "Costco" Momi called to advise "your baby is here". Here being Crappy Cove, at the back entrance to Sandy Beach. When I arrived at 1034 Momi advised that he had tried to haul out twice, but the adoring hordes wouldn’t allow it. I walked the rocks between CC and Irma’s and CC & SB, but found nothing. At 1108 Robert called to advise that Kea was back at AD. When I arrived at 1117 he was in line with the wall, heading east. He would swim to his birth site tide pool, and then begin moving back to the west, hauling out to the rock flats, 150 ft east of the wall at 1137. Alison and I put up the cordon and he remains. Just in case you were wondering , as I was, I checked the data. It took Kaiwi (RK96), 84 days to make it to Crappy Cove. Kea did it in 72 days. Kea entered the water at 1814, swimming out for a bit, and then moving to the 200 yd flats at closing time.
At 1212 Gayle found Kaiwi (RK96) at Buster Flats.
At 1246 I found a 50% molted Duke (RA12) at Middle Cliff, and Aukai (RL12) at Seal Rock Inlet, on Rabbit Island.
At 0630 Team Billand reported Makaiwi (R4DF) near the Kalaeloa Deep Draft Harbor. She would be closer to KoOlina in the afternoon.
Colleen advised that Rocky (RH58) had been at Diamond Head at 0815, but gone at 1315. Colleen reported that Rocky was back at DH, at 1500.
At 0956 the Billand reported an animal at Wind Sock. At 1540 they would confirm the Ewa Girl (RS00) ID.
At 1018 they reported an animal at Nimitz Cottages. At 1540 they would confirm the Irma (R010) ID.
At 1000 they reported that Dennis had advised of an animal at White Plains. The Billands would confirm the M&M (R020) ID at 1637.
Marilyn did the Ka’ena Point trek, after a stop to check on Nihoa (R912)&Luana at Mokuleia. She found RIP (RR70) and RK36 at the end of the world.
Dana advised that Karen Turner had reported Kaikaina (RL54) at Turtle Bay.

Our heartful thanks to Diane Gabriel and Allan R for taking care of M and Ewa Girl along with....IRMA.
We did go back out there at 3pm and stayed to 5:30...the seals remain.
We also checked out Makaiwi..she is a mess..no idea what is wrong with her...just we know, she is hurting and keeps floating on the surface of the water.
We did see her at the mouth of the inlet/outlet of the harbor, then a boat came speeding by, she took off, over honolulu side of Harbor..but late afternoon .... She was back at KoOlina spot, still floating and snoozing nicely. Just she is a major wreck.
Hope our Makaiwi R4DF, WILL SURVIVE..she is a darling seal that we love much.
Thanks Diane and Allan...you da best!!!!!!!
OOOpps, forgot to thank LINDA STATON, Kirsten, Diane T for taking a post to monitor our Makaiwi R4DF.
Prayers to all of you good folks.
