At 0545 I found Kea (N46) in a tide pool, 100 ft east of the AD wall. He would move out onto the rock flats at 0803, and was washed off to the west at 0842. Despite hard work trying to get back onto the flats, he finally tired and returned to his starting tide pool. At 0854 he began galumphing to the west in the shallow, and by 1006 he was at the AD wall, in the white water ravaged little cove, just 3 ft east of the wall. Lo and behold he found a little hole between two rocks at that location that I didn’t even realize was there, and squeaked through to the east side and began galumphing in the shallows back toward the east. He had reached the morning’s start point tide pool when I had to leave for another call t 1054.
A Kaupo Beach Park posse member called at 1054 with the report of two animals there. When I arrived at 1102 I found Irma (R010) and RK36). I cordoned them off, amongst the masses, and the remain. I picked up the rope at 1910 . Irma & RK36 remain.
Team Billand called at 0706 with the report of M&M at Kalaeloa Campgrounds. She seems to be sporting some new scars on the ventral side. Shark teeth ????? She departed at 1834
At 1214 they reported Haupu (RB24) at Maili Guard Rails Beach.
My posse member from KBP called at 1407 to advise that "the same green guy from the other day" did a come..look..leave, heading toward the pier. Sounds like Benny to me.
A call from Tati at 1415 advised that Right Spot had been reported at Rocky Rights on the north shore today. There was no Buster.
Lesley advised that Benny had done a swim by, headed west. Once again he tried to haul out to Sandy Beach, but the hordes would not allow it.
Lesley called at 1849 to advise that Kea was entering the water. It has been apparent for several days now that he must be going out at night, but this is the first documented proof that he is working the night shift. Probably better he's out there at night and not around for the night-time shenanigans at the beach!!!

I really like this picture... it looks like as it should be... peaceful and monk seals just blending in with the rocks undisturbed.
