Tammy hiked Ka'ena today and only came across two seals. The first seals was RG28 Lefty. He is still molting, but close to being finished with just a little fur left. He still has his hook.
Then there was R330 Squinty, he is finished his molt and looking quite handsome in his new coat. Tammy noted that the transmitter patch is still visible.
Team R&B had a slow seal day. Their first sighting was a sealswimming past them. They determined it was R3CX Nalu. He swam pass then turned and they lost sight of him. They waited around hoping, but he never came back.
Later in the day they saw him. He had hauled out at rest-camp, thankfully there were signs were posted.
From afar they spotted three people standing around a small seal. Team R&B drove over to yoks where they found RP28 Wakea hauled out on shore. There weren't any signs around him.
That was it for seals today.
They did see a weather front passing over the ocean, pretty dramatic. There was bird near Wakea, that found a crab. Team R&B watched the bird chase the crab, and go through the process of catching the crab and turning it into a meal.
