December 1, 2024 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:25 to 2:05 pm and there were five seals seen during that time.
Alone on the waterfront rocks on the 3BS side of Middle Cliff beach was Adult Male 1: adult size, older coat, brown male belly, unsure about tags.
Almost directly down from 3BS were three seals:
Adult Female: large adult size, brownish gray female belly and two red tags.
RK24 Bruno: adult size, newer coat, light gray male belly and two red tags.
Adult Male 2: adult size, newer dark coat, dark male belly and at least one red tag.
Alone on the waterfront rocks on the 3BS side of SRI was an Unknown Adult: adult size, and older coat.

Team R&B's first find was at Pokai. Way up on shore was RH76 Kala. She was alone sleeping in a good hiding spot. They noted she is looking chubby today.

Next they headed over to Kahe where they found a seal resting on the rocks.  They were thrilled to see it was RS32 out cold. She was alone and probably been there for a while since her coat was very dry.

Team R&B were having a good day compared to yesterday. They made their way over to yoks. When they got to the area there were two signs up by the lifeguard. He wanted more signs, but unfortunately Team R&B don't have any.
The seal was RG28 Lefty who is about 60% molted.
At first everything seemed okay, until one guy walked up to the seal to take a photo of the hook.  There were kids walking by the seal and an unleashed dog. The dog actually approached Team R&B barking and getting close, finally the owner took the dog away. Such a shame.  Team R&B let the lifeguard know, he was aware and said the dog should be on a leash.
Lefty still has the hook and the trailing line is about the length of his body. At times the line was around his neck.  I hope he finishes his molt soon, so something can be done.
Team R&B heard there was another seal, so they went looking.

Still at yoks but much further away was Wakea RP28 on shore. He was not alone, about 10 feet away from him was a tent with five people. They played volley ball, which of course at one point the ball got close to Wakea. One of the women went over to get it.
The lifeguards need more signs. What really sad it that Team R&B don't have any. In the past when they have had them, the signs were taken away from them. go figure!!!
Team R&B called the hotline, who was more interested in the seal with the hook and wanted photos. So like good people that they are Team R&B sent them a photo.
On one hand Team R&B was happy to see more seals, but on the other hand its stressful to see people so close to the seals and not have the proper equipment to help the seal.
