December 13, 2024 Friday's Dailies

Today dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:07 to 2:07 pm and there were five seals seen during that time.
On the back Lanikai side of LPB a Juvenile Female hauled out and moved  up the beach next to the cliff. The J/F was larger juvenile size, light female belly and two red tags. This is probably the same seal that was labeled unknown juvenile this past week.
Down from 1BS was an Adult Female: adult size, tannish brown female belly and two red tags.
At 1:30 pm, Adult Male 1 hauled out just slightly Makapuu side of the 1BS: adult size, new coat, gray male belly and at least one red tag,
Down from 3BS was an Unknown Adult: adult size, unknown sec, newer coat and at least one red tag. Marilyn's guess is that this is one of the two Adult Males that recently finished his molt.
Between 3BS and SRI was Adult Male 2: adult size, about 60% molted, gray male belly and no tags were seen.

Team R&B arrived at Pokai and when they got out of their car they heard a child calling out " Auntie no more seals, only crabs". It was their little friend 3 year old Kalena. She and her mom, share seal stories with Team R&B over the past few years.
On the rocks they found RH76 Kala. She was alone and looking chubby.  They explained to Kalens that Kala might be with a pup, which made her very her very excited.

Heading over to Makaha they spotted a big seal from afar. They went
to check it out and as they walked over they heard yelling.  They ID'd the seal was RL42 Leia scurrying on land to the rocks.  There was a man and woman who were looking for shells. They went back toward the seal passing by closely.
RL42 is looking fat these days and healthy. When Team R&B headed out Leia was remained resting by the rocks..

At another west side location they were happy to find two seals. Sadly though this area has a lot of homeless camps with so much trash all over the area.
One of the seals was RW02 PvKauai on lower rocks. He was snoozing peacefully.  Ove to the right on the rocks was RG28 Lefty. He was resting and is still hooked.
Then they saw another seal. There on the rocks was the lovely R604. She was resting peacefully. Team R&B took a few photos and then left the area so they wouldn't draw attention to the seals.

Lastly they stopped at Kahe and found RM31 Kai. He was alone sleeping on the rocks.
