December 9, 2024 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:40 to 2:01 pm and there were six seals seen during that time.
Alone near the LPB surge channel was an Unknown Juvenile: juvenile to small sub-adult size, two red tags, medium gray ventral, unsure about sex because of the sand.
Between 3BS and SRI were four seals:
In a group of three were:
Adult Female: large adult size, tan female belly, two red tags, jagged scar on upper chest. This is the same Adult Female that Marilyn has seen recently.
Adult Male 1: adult size, mostly older brown coat, male belly, pit scar on mid-dorsal, about 20% molted mostly on upper chest, not sure about tags. This is the same Adult Male 1 as yesterday.
Sub-adult Male: sub-adult size, new coat, tan male belly, two red tags. There were words between the S/M and A/M 1.  Then the Sub-adult
Male moved toward Adult Male 2, then entered the water for about 10 minutes before hauling out near the AF.
Adult Male 2 was about 30-40 feet away from the other three seals. A/M 2 is adult size, about 90% molted with some patches of old fur on the rear dorsal area, medium gray male belly, unsure about tags. This is the same Adult Male 2 from yesterday.
Again out on RRB was Adult Male 3: adult size, probably 95% molted, just a few patches of fur on the real dorsal and flippers. This is the same Adult Male 3 from yesterday.

Team R&B started their day feeling bummed in that they were not finding any critters, no seals, no
dolphins, nothing!  But that was about to change and the magic began. At yoks there on shore was RG28 Lefty, still hooked but looking handsome in his new coat. There were some people around, but there was one group that was actually really helpful. The kids put up a stick zone on their side of the beach. So Team R&B collected some sticks and put them up on their side. They went and thanked the kids and gave them some seal stuff.
Team R&B left the area but made a stop to recheck from afar. Well
there was another seal hauled out next to Lefty. So they drove all the way back to check it out. The seal that hauled out was RW02 PvKauai. He and Lefty had a few words, then they both settled down for the day.

Next stop at Makaha, they were thrilled to find RP28 Wakea resting on shore. While taking his photo they were besides themselves when they noticed a second seal further down.  They went to check it out
and was surprised to see RL42 Leia. She is looking good and was resting peacefully.

Last find was RM31 Kai at Kahe. He was way to the right due to the big surf.  They were happy to see him again and wondered where he has been.
