November 25, 2023 Saturday's Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕 In yesterday's news (actually a couple of days ago) Marilyn sent her Rabbit Island observations.

Team R&B started their day at tracks to find trucks, more tents at the hill. Below were two seals:
Kalua RL20 who is now 95% molted, almost done.
Nalu R3CX was near him by the greenery.
People continue to get too close to the seals, during the entire time Team R&B were there. They called the hotline to report, but there was no response.
Both seals were interrupted many times. Posse pal Holly was with them and they did their best to help keep people away from the seals.  Feeling defeated they left for the day.

While out at tracks they were hoping for Kaale RH32 to arrive.  They happened to see a group of people and next to them was a big seal. Holly and Barb went to check on the seal and it was Kaale. snuggled against a big rock. Guess after yesterday's antics he found a quieter spot to rest.

They considered going out to Ka'ena West but it was closed off. There was a vehicle on the rocks, which they had not seen before. They did get to view the huge waves!

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island on Thanksgiving Day from 11:05 to 12:51 and there were four seals during that time.
About 15 feet of the 1BS was R606: subadult male, new coat, light male belly, no tags and NB on RFF.
At 12:11 Marilyn became aware of two seals in the water between 1BS and 2BS. After a short while both seals hauled out, a sub-adult male and an adult male. Then the adult male entered the water and swam in the Lanikai direction to haul out by R606.
Sub-Adult Male: subadult size, two red tags, newer coat and light male belly.

Adult Male: adult size, newer coat, medium gray belly and two red tags. This seal may have a scar on its right rear side so it might have been RK24.
Out on RRB was an Unknown Juvenile: juvenile size, light yellow belly, unsure of gender and two red tags. There may be a line scar on the right side of upper chest.
Marilyn also noted an adult Masked Booby up on the outer ridge of Rabbit Island crater.
