Tammy went out to the point with Lesley and Diane. (one of these days I'm going to make it out there with them). Their first find was R330 Squinty. He was alone and pretty smelly due to his molt.
Second seal down the beach was another smelly molting seal. This was PvKauai RW02, two molting seals made for a stinky day.
Lastly they found TA68 who recently finished his molt. OMG soon there will be all the seals will have new clean coat.
Tammy noted the Laysan albatross are back, but they didn't spot any whales.
Team R&B started their day at the bay and were just about to give up when they heard seals snorting. They looked around the rocks, and didn't see anything. Then they saw them splashing and RM31 Kai's hind flippers in the air.
Kala RH76 came in fast with little punk Kai following her. She was very annoyed turned and dive bombed Kai. (teaching the little kid a lesson) This continued for 10 minutes, then Kala hauled way up on the rocks. Kai followed her nudging her belly. Oy this kid is persistent.
Finally the commotion ended and they both fell asleep. Tourists came, and some idiots, so Team R&B stayed until all left the site.
Team R&B had some personal appointments to take care of so their time was limited. At tracks they found RH32 Kaale on shore. There were campers up above with lots of kids. (everyone had the day off today making for a long weekend). Kaale is about 80% molted and the hotline was notified.
While at the site they spotted another seal way down from their location, so they made the walk. There was R604, partially buried in the sand on a slant. Fingers crossed the seals will find a quieter place over the weekend.
Next they headed to Kahe where they found the little piggy who was at the nets yesterday stealing fish. It was RL20 Kalua sound asleep, next to his poop. Seems he ate really well and thank goodness he is safe.
Lastly they found their little guy Opihi RQ42. He was in the same spot alone and snoozing. There's a good chance he'll be leaving the area soon, but only Opihi knows.
