Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island today from 12:55 to 2:35 and there were five seals on island today.
In a group of four on LPB were:
Weaner RQ44 Mahina: ID'd by weaner size and coloration, very light female belly, 3 rear flipper tags and her N1 applied bleach.
An Unknown Juvenile: juvenile size, older coat with a fair amount of green, unsure of gender or tags.
RK24 Wawamalu/Bruno: subadult to adult size, old coat with some green, scar on right side about 1/3 forward from rear flippers.
Unknown Subadult: subadult size, new coat, lighter ventral side (probably female); not sure about tags.
The four seals moved around and changed position several times.
Alone near the 3BS was a Juvenile Female: larger juvenile to small adult size, old coat with green,, female belly and at least one rear flipper tag.
Team R&B took a walk out to secrets and saw two signs up with a volunteer on site educating folks.
They ID'd RH32 Kaale in the company of RL12 Aukai. Team R&B pointed out that Aukai was about 25% molted.
They noticed that RH32 has a small hole/wound in his back (it might be a cyst infected). He looks like he might be getting ready to molt too. He went into the water to cool off and then went right back with Aukai on shore.
At another west side location they found RG32 back in his spot. He was alone snoozing and his stub of a tag was visible.
They had made an early search at the bay and found no seals. Whenthey went out later in the day they found the beautiful RH76 Kala. She was on the rocks by herself.
Team R&B made the trek to Kaena West. They were both happy and surprise to find RP30 galumphing on the rocks. He is looking so green, perhaps he's heading back to birth beach to molt.
