Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:30 to 3:30 and there was one seal on island during her observations.
On LPB was an Adult Male: adult size, older coat, perhaps some small pit scars on the left rear side, tan male belly and at least one red tag on the LRF.
Melody made her way to the North Shore and stopped by to check inon R016 Right Spot and her pup PO9. When she arrived there was a nursing session and a long snooze. Some swim time and back for more nursing again. She was entertained for three hours! Right spot is a great mom, especially how gentle she is with the pup.
Team R&B watched from afar a seal foraging in the outfall. They headed over and found two seals.
There was RL20 Kalua and the other was RG28 Lefty. It did take them a bit to make Lefty's ID.
Meanwhile RL20 had himself a very big puffer fish, he was mouthing the tail. He didn't eat it, just tormenting it by playing with it. The fishermen were getting a big kick out of him.
At another west side site, they see a small fat green seal to the right. They were able to ID RP30 Puka.
There was another male on side, adult size, unsure about tags and he did not move around. They could not confirm but think this is RG32.
They made a stop before heading out for a hike at Kaena West. Therewas a female hidden in the rocks. It was RL70 Leina, here white nails and neck scar were visible. They did not stay as there were so many people out on this three day weekend.
On their Kaena west hike they were mostly hot and running out of places to look. But as luck would have it they spotted a very chunky weaner. RQ24 Mauna was hidden well, they almost missed him.
He was snoozing on the rocks alone. So young and managing just fine on his own.
On their way out of Kaena west they did one checked on last spot. There was a seal! Turned out to be R3CX Nalu alone.
