09/11/2022 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:55 to 3:20 and there were four seals on island today.
Down from the 1BS was weaner RQ44 Mahina. She was ID'd by her weaner size and shape, three rear flipper tags and her light female belly. Marilyn was happy to see her since she hadn't seen her on her last two visits.
Between Middle Cliff and 3BS were two seals:
Unknown Adult: adult to subadult size, older coat and two red tags. Marilyn never saw its ventral side, so its gender is unknown. It was near an Unknown Juvenile: juvenile size, older coat with lots of green and possibly one red tag on RRF. She could not determine its gender because of its sandy shake and bake belly.
The U/A chased the U/J into the water about 2:05 and they both disappeared. About 7 minutes later the U/J hauled out again just down from the 3BS.
Behind waterfront rocks Makapuu side of SRI was an Unknown Unidentified mostly hidden. Marilyn thinks the U/U was a subadult to adult. It entered the water at 2:15 and was not seen again.

Team R&B got to a west side location and spotted a big male on the rocks. He had a stub for a tag, and scar over right side of his head, it was RG32. He seemed as though he had been fighting with another seal as the right side of his neck area is full of scratched and bites.

Next they got to a popular shore where they found RL12 Aukai. There were lots of people and activities going on, a photo session and beach visitors. They called the hotline. When a volunteer arrived Team R&B left the area.

Their next stop they saw another big male alone. It was RG28 Lefty with his cc scars showing. He was resting on the rocks.

Team R&B were going to do the Kaena west trek, but the skies opened up and it poured. They actually went home to wait it out (most of us would have called it a day).
Finally once the skies cleared they headed out to check some other nearby beaches.
To their delight they spotted two seals hanging out together. One was big RL70 Leina who appears to be finishing up her molt.  Next to her was a very green RP30 Puka.
