I am sharing the link to the Kauai Seals blog. Thank you Kim for posting an update on our Oahu girls both Rocky and KC with their pups. So happy they are there under the watchful eyes of the Kauai team.
Back on Oahu the following critters were seen today:
At the outfall this morning there were two UUs seen. UU#1 swimming out of the outfall heading in the KoOlina direction. Seal was an adult, but no ID.
UU#2 heading west never landed. Another adult with a nice coat.
RL20 Kalua was seen and the small hook on his face was gone, older, larger hook still in place. Could not see the hook on his belly, unclear if its still attached. He was resting comfortable.
RF28 Paakea was seen inland in a little pond resting. He is looking healthy. R3CX Nalu was on the
other side of Paakea RF28 resting peacefully.
There was a critter foraging off shore doing 5 minute dives. It may have been Kekoa RK72 but could not get a positive ID.
And then there was Benny RE74 coming into the area. He comes in looks around, lands and then leaves the area. He never bothered RL20. Next he went around to front water rocks, hauled in again looking around cautiously. He was sniffing the air and found the other boys Nalu and Paakea.
Nalu started barking, Paakea watched until they got into a scuffle. Benny approached them all three barking at each other. Nalu came out of his hole, passed by Benny while Paakea barked at him. Benny ended up leaving went off to the right fast and furious. Only Benny knows what he was after.
