Aloha good people. Here on Oahu we have started another closure to the beaches that is suppose to last through labor day. Our posse will do their best to be safe, obey the rules and try to get a quick peek at any critters on the shores.
Marilyn was able to observe Rabbit Island from the pier today and spotted 5 seals. It was a little bit of a challenge with passing clouds and a couple of showers.
Seal 1 - Unidentified juvenile to sub adult female with a new coat and two tags
Seal 2 - Adult male, older coat and mottled male belly with two tags. There "may" have been a N11 applied bleach which would make this RG32.
Seal 3 - Unidentified juvenile female with an older coat.
Seal 1 - moved up behind the other two seals part way through Marilyn's viewing time.
Seal 4 - P05 hauled out about 2 pm. She was about 50 feet Makapuu side of the 1BS. She was ID'd by weaner size, color, female belly and no tags.
Seal 5 - Hauled out shortly after arriving. U/J/F with two tags, older coat some green and female belly.
Marilyn did not see PO1 or PO3 today.
Team Billand spotted little green RL70 Leina between the rocks, scrambling like she was taking off. She slid into the water just as they were able to get a couple of pics.
There was another seal on lower rocks snoozing. RN14 Kalani was asleep but would check in front of him turning his head to the water. Finally flipping on his side and snoozed some more.
They spotted R3CX at another location. He was slow moving kept looking around. He is 100% molted and looking quite handsome. He rolled on his side and went to sleep.
