Team Billand arrived at the outfall at 6:30 am and found Ka'ale RH32 up to his usual bad boy behavior steal fish. They watched over him for an hour and then headed out to pick up Junior Sealette Olivia!
They returned to the outfall and Ka'ale was gone.
At 10 am Team Billand arrived at a westside beach and they spotted a green seal who turned out to be Benny RE74. He was leaving the shallows and then out to sea. They were lucky to get a couple of pictures before he left.
They then spotted Lefty RG28 at the seal inlet, mid rock. He was alone and enjoying the sun. He would leave at noon with the high tide. He is very green but not molting yet.
Lefty's brother RF28 Paakea was on lower rocks resting alone. Then out of nowhere another seal pulls in, it's Ka'ale who joins Paakea on lower rocks for a moment. Paakea was not happy with Ka'ale in his territory. He barked at Ka'ale who then swiftly dives into the shallows, goes all the way around to the water front rocks and lands there. He stays there alone in peace.
Then at 1 they were at another west side beach where they found Kalua RL20. They spotted a little green between the rocks. They stayed and watched and sure enough its the little green goblin. He was snoring away, in a great spot well hidden.
Seal 1 - was at the back of LPB near the cliff; adult size, new coat and two tags. Marilyn thinks frmale but could not confirm. This may be RL12 Aukai newly molted, but not sure.
Seal 2 - Either weaner PO1 or PO3, weaner size, male belly and no tags. This seal was initially LPB but moved up and out of sight for a while. Seal 1 moved closer to Seal 2 later in the day.
Seal 3 - PO5 located almost directly in front of 1BS. Weaner size and coloration, female belly and no tags.
Seal 4 - UJF hauled out to PO5 starting about 1:12 pm. The UJF had a new coat, lighter female belly and 2 tags. PO5 and UJF interacted some and then about 2:25 the UJF entered the water and PO5 followed.
Seal 5 - another UJF was near the Middle Cliff area on the 3BS side. Juvenile size, older coat and with lighter belly and lots of green with 2 tags.
Seal 6 - adult male hauled out to Seal 5 about 1 pm. Somewhat newer coat, darker male belly and at least one tag. Pestered Seal 5 and stayed with her while Marilyn was there.
Seal 7 - smaller adult male hauled out of SRI about 1:20. Marilyn thinks to be RG32 by the applied N11 bleach, older coat and mottled male belly.
