05/03/2020 Stay-At-Home (41) Lesley's Ka'ena Update

Today is a 3 in 1 report day. It has been a crazy couple of days around here added to that the partial opening of the park.

On Friday May 1st
RL42 Lei & PO4 D9 – on my early morning check I was finally able to observe my first “deep” water swim. Of course mom was laying half covered in water but the little one was being tossed by the waves. There was A LOT of vocalizing on mom’s side and some by the kid. On the other checks they were along the waterline and at sunset made their way up the beach.
RL74 Kami was hauled out on her latest favorite spot down at the point near the Runway
U/U swam into the outer pool and left, got one pic of it’s head from way up on the hill but unfortunately no ID possible.
Albatross chicks are starting to show their white feathers.

Saturday May 2nd
RL42 Leia & PO4 D10 were down at the waterline on several of my checks the last one at sunset they were making their way up the beach for the night
RK40 Napua (RL42 Leia’s 2018 pup) was down the beach on Lyman’s side. For once she was back here unfortunately the beach was packed

Sunday May 3rd
It was mid-morning before I was able to make it down to check on RL42 Leia & PO4 D11. Looked like they were settling for a nap down on the waterline.
More tomorrow
