Team Billand was out and about today. Their first find of the day was their favorite problem child RH32 Ka'ale. He had just hauled out on the rocks alone. The boy is a beast, he's huge.
They then made their way to visit with Kaiwi and PO2. Well turns out we have a weaner! Kaiwi had left her very healthy pup to go and get herself a good meal. The pup PO2 nickname Nohea was in a deep sleep when they arrived. There were signs, ropes and volunteers on site.
She woke up as the water was coming up and touching her, she tried to turn out of the way but being the large marge she was having a hard time. Finally she got on her side and was wide eyed. She moved to lower rocks and the waves began to wash her and she was loving it.
She went for a swim close to shore away from the zone, but was carefully being watched by volunteers.
She doesn't appear to be showing any signs of stress about leaving on her own. She appears to be extremely independent and quite hefty.
Team Billand went to check out another seal hauling out closeby. It was a male with a tag, cookie scars on top of neck area and a small bleach spot on the right side by his butt. They were able to confirm that this was RN06/07 born in 2013 on Molokai. He only has one tag N07.
HE was sniffing around probably looking for Kaiwi.
Lots of chubby pup pics enjoy!
