At 0613 I found Kermit (R012) waiting for me at Irma's.
He had overnighted. I redid the cordon and he remained the rest of the day,
first moving down to cool off and then at the end of the day, moving back up. He
was still there when I picked up the rope at dark.
At 1003 Duke (RA12) briefly hauled out to 1BS on Rabbit
Island but soon reentered the water only to haul out again at the other end of
the beach at Seal Rock Inlet. When I got back at 1405 he was no longer
visible.
On my 1405 check of Rabbit Island, I found Buster (RV08), and a bad guy, fronting 1BS.
DOCARE was called and responded. The guy was initially about 5 ft away, but
moved closer. After several minutes Buster had , had enough and postured and
rolled toward the guy. The guy natural ran away a short distance, but then as
Buster galumphed to the sea the guy began picking up stuff from the beach and
throwing it at him, following closely all the way to the water. This guy left
the beach shortly thereafter, being picked up by a fellow surfer on a jet ski.
They were met at the Kailua Boat Ramp by DOCARE personnel.
Gayle called at 1500 with a Kaiwi report from Spitting
Cave, Gayle,Kathy, Zeeny& I spent quality time with the little girl.
At 0802 Dana called with a report of RI37 at Ehukai

Just wanted to comment on one more thing..Sharkbite may be staying at Plains to molt and I am thrilled IF HE DOES.
He DOES use that bitten off flipper!! He pulls his body up and towards that flipper, then scratches, reaching over. How cool a seal. I got to watch him galumph up to the bushes last night..he tosses his head way back, then pushes his whole body forward, in a fast motion. He amazes me...as I said, I feel honored to be in his presence...just cant get enough of him.
