1-24-2012 Kaiwi Kuest Found @ Kaiwi Kove

Thank you June and Zeeny for these great shots of Kaiwi..... She is so sweet, and I am amazed that she returns to that same spot time after time, no matter how long she is away.
Now she looking a little sassy!
Haaaaa she smelling the Naupaka- does it smell good?
Showing off her N19 and transmitter still intact.
Haaa - she's going to fly off... such a big stretch
From the Naupaka to the rough rocks
Back to the Naupaka she tucked away for the night

Kaiwi is such a beautiful girl. The photos are sensational! She is so lucky to have all those volunteers taking care of her, finding her at s.c. foraging. Then locating her at her house in the Nopaka, so darling. She is one determined little girl, discovering different spots, alllll by her self. So precious!!!

I sure wish we could find something about Kekoa Alii too. Remember him, the seal born at Reef Runway???? I wish we could go and observe his birth spot out there. See if he is ok, check out his growth and if the transmitter is still on and working. I sure miss him..he was a handsome kid, who loved exploring his area, picking up crap from man and playing with it. I worry about the debris...he got entangled once and that was so scarey. He could have died if we hadnt spotted him. My prayers are with you Kekoa Alii RK72/RK73...Flipper hugs.

Where is Ewa Girl too???? She been gone along time..she must be at her secret spot again...wish we could find that spot someday.

Kaiwi looks adorable however, she seems too aware of the presence of the person taking the photo? With an animal this young don't you want to avoid any familiarity with us humans for her own safety and well being?

I want to assure Anonymous that she is not responding to the cameras. All shots are taken with telephoto lens, and are well away. Because she is in a small corner of the beach at the cove, she is looking at all the activity down the beach frontage. All the posse persons doing Kaiwi duty are very much aware of Kaiwi's well being and take great care in tending to her. DB

Well put DB...I have spent some time with the AWESOME volunteers out there at Kaiwi site, and all are very observant, caring, compassionate people. Shame on you ...ANON!
