Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand. Also posse pal Gayle forwarded me the link to the Kauai Blog with some tagging news on their weaners. Here is the link: https://kauaiseals.wordpress.com/2020/12/07/monk-seal-monday-115-meet-rm28-and-nh00/
Team Billand found Ka'ale RH32 at the bay early morning. He was foraging for a while and then hauled out around 10:30 on the rocks. He entered the water again and landed one more time at 4 pm.
Most of the critters were further out in the bay by the jetty. It made it difficult to get photos of them. At one point the seals were being followed by a snorkeler. They called the hotline and volunteer Melina came out. Nalu R3CX was foraging and fighting all day. Lei Ola RH48 was seen further out being chased by Nalu.
At time she was hugging a small animal that had a bleach mark on its body. It wasn't until Team Billand
got home sorting through their photos did they see the little one was in fact N4 Kai. His bleach mark on his body was visible. Lei Ola really was taking to him with lots of hugs today. Joining in all the fun at the bay this morning was RL20 Kalua. He was foraging and then then fought off the others.Just before 1 pm at another west side location Team Billand found Kekoa Alii RK72. He was alone on lower rocks. He's about 5% molted.
