12/28/2020 Monday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand.

Team Billand arrived at the bay and noticed the akule boat in the ocean side of the jetty. They quickly went over to see what was going on but it was too late, they were driving around looking. There were nets in the boat with three men, and thankfully they left.  Team Billand only saw a couple of seals this morning at 7:30 am.  Nalu R3CX was there and Lei Ola RH48. RN44 landed on left rocks, perhaps he is getting ready to molt soon. He's very green and hauling out in three days in a row.

Team Billand headed to another west side location just before 11. There was RN14 Kalani up on high

left rocks snoozing on his belly. His natural bleach mark was showing. RH76 Kala was sleeping on water front rocks alone. Her tags were visible and she is looking nice and plump.

After 11 they found Ka'ale RH32 at another location hauled out. There were lots of people out and getting pretty close. Some of the regular swimmers even asked people to back away, but they ignored them and kept taking pictures.  Team Billand called the hotline to inform them of the situation. Hopefully a volunteer was able to get out there today.

At noon today Team Billand found Kolohe RW22 snoozing on the rocks. He was very dry made it difficult to ID but his stub of a tag was visible. Kolohe is a very big boy.

Team Billand made it back to the bay for a second visit between 2:30 and 4:30. They saw Aukai RL12 foraging and being followed by Nalu R3CX.   Lei Ola was on the rocks to the left and snoozing. She is large and green. They did not stay around Lei Ola so that people would not bother her. Lastly they found one seal foraging and had a fish thrashing it about. They were able to ID RL20 Kalua pigging out.
